The 7-year-old horses got to jump the Future Stars 1.40m Grand Prix presented by ZANGERSHEIDE in the main ring Zoute Plage, but none of the young talents seemed to be too impressed by their surroundings as 16 out of the 71 horses moved on to the jump-off.

Against the clock, it was Olympic gold medallist Laura Kraut (USA) that really set the pace aboard the stunning grey gelding Greatfull (Congress x Peking) when leaving the breaks at the entrance to race across the shortened course in a time of 34.55 seconds. It looked nearly impossible to beat, but a few riders later Darragh Kenny (IRL) would prove it different on Lolly Pop Van ‘t Akkerhof (Warkant Van ‘t Gestelhof x Lancelot), when he miraculously managed to bring the time further down to 34.18 seconds to take the win. Third place went to Angelique Rüsen (GER), in the colours of the class-sponsor Zangersheide, riding Aga Khan Z (Acorado I x Stakkato) to a time of 35.33.

In the 1.30m Future Stars Grand Prix for 6-year-old horses presented by CATHERINE DE BUYL, Angelique Rüsen again made it to the podium – this time to the top when piloting Calvino 16 (Castelan II x Literat 12) to victory with a time of 42.57 seconds as last to go in the 22-horse jump-off. Second place went to Katharina Offel (GER) and Hearst (Emerald Van ‘t Ruytershof x Vingino), that held the lead for the majority of the class with a time of 42.65 seconds – making it double German on top. Astrid Rooms (BEL) and Sea Coast Mona Lisa Van ‘t Paradijs (Manako De Muze x Emerald Van ‘t Ruytershof) ended third after stopping the clock in 43.26 seconds.
