Super Cup: Belgium’s Koen Vereecke wins the Grand Prix qualifier presented by AGTERBERG
Thursday’s feature class in the CSI2* Super Cup was the 1.40m Grand Prix qualifier presented by AGTERBERG. In this speed class, it was home rider Koen Vereecke (BEL) that was the fastest as he put the 9-year-old gelding Diadarco Van Evendael Z (Diamant de Semilly x Darco) in top gear to record the winning time of 55.47 seconds.
Alma Björklund (SWE) followed in second place riding Flecu (Hip Hop x Flamingo) to a time of 56.25, while third place went to Vincent Bartin (FRA) on Caramba du Ruisseau Z (Carambo x Nabab de Reve) in 56.75 seconds.
The 1.30m two-phase class presented by EFS went to Ireland, courtesy of Max O’Reilly Hyland. Riding Enigma (Escudo I x Drosselklang II), the Irish rider left a gap of nearly a second down to runner-up Andreas Vardinogiannis (GRE) on Boris (Viento Uno W x Kenwood). Third place went to Ines Van Den Bosch (BEL), who was best of the home riders, aboard Infinity vd Heffinck (Contact van de Heffinck x Triomphe de Muze).
It was Marie Longem (NOR) who took the first Super Cup victory of the day riding 12-year-old gelding Billy Boycie (Kannan x Animo). With a time of 29.87 seconds in this 1.35m two-phase class presented by PECON, Longem left two American riders behind her: Samantha Coen in second aboard Coerly Sue (Chap 47 x Askari) and Kerry Mc Cahill in third aboard Animinute (Winningmood x Animo) – making it an all-female podium.
