Early bird Gudrun Patteet takes the morning victory
Gudrun Patteet awoke fresh and sharp this morning and proved this in the first competition in Knokke. The morning competition was a competition for early birds; they had to ride against the clock to collect some valuable Longines World Ranking points. The victory stayed in the home country, since Belgium’s Gudrun Patteet and her talented Sea Coast vd Zuuthoeve (Tangelo vd Zuuthoeve x Thunder vd Zuuthoeve) beat Egypt’s Karim El Zoghby and Colour Girl with a difference of 1.5 seconds. Lorenzo De Luca – riding for Stephex Stables – had a great round this morning aboard Halifax van het Kluizebos, finishing third. Belgium’s Zoé Conter riding Soory de l’Hallali and Niels Bruynseels riding Angel van het Hof finished on a sixth and seventh position respectively. Stephex-rider Daniel Deusser completed the top 10 of the standings with Zoe II. Reigning Olympic champions Steve Guerdat and Nino des Buissonnets took their time and finished within the top 20.
